In a time when election margins are razor thin, what could be better for Democrats than Ann Coulter going around and pissing off constituencies in which Republicans had made inroads.
Take the Log Cabin Republicans - every time Ann opens her mouth, a handful of gay Republicans find they just can’t stomach voting their wallets. A few more women just say, a party that asks her to speak at official events like APAC just doesn’t feel like home. Middle class blacks - can’t do it. And now, Jews.
FOX News describes it this way (with a transcript of the remarks):
“Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be “perfected” by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.”
Watch:
Historically, American Jews have been at the vanguard of the civil rights movement. Having been barred from much of society themselves, when they were finally able to open and walk through doors, they looked back over their shoulders and partnered with black Americans who were still struggling.
However, recently it seems to be that there has been some shifting going on - some Jews liked the focus on Israel on the part of evangelical Christians, like Bush. The words used to describe our nation’s religious heritage changed - when I was growing up, we were a Christian nation. I don’t know when we became a Judeo-Christian nation, but until Ann, you just couldn’t say one without the other in polite company.
But because of Ann, evangelical Christians are free, free, free at last to rejoice and celebrate what they’ve been muzzled from saying, due to political correctness, no doubt. They can now say, AMERICA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION! Ann taboo-breakin’ Coulter has released evangelicals from the burden of putting the Judeo in front of the Christian.
Not only that, but Ann articulated what Christians believe - Jews get a special pass to heaven, but they ain’t fully perfect.
Frankly, I am puzzled that so many people are so shocked. HELLOOOO! Why be shocked at Ann Coulter?! This is what conservative Christians believe!
I mean, I have Jewish friends who agree with Democrats on every single issue, except policy towards Israel. And for that reason, they were leaning to voting Republican.
Well, for those Jews who were starting to think they were going to cast their lot with Bush and Co., thanks to Ann Coulter, perhaps now they are starting to realize that their evangelical Christian partners expect them to convert.
Duh.

[…] But, there was something about the way she talked about Christians vs Jews in the infamous interview with Donny Deutsch on his CNBC show “The Big Idea.” (for a transcript, click here, for video, click here). […]
