Today in our world…

Vast inequalities exist in the world, but for the most part, Americans are protected from it - even within our country, the differences between the rich and poor, while widening, are not as vast as they are in South Africa.  At least not on the scale that is seen there.  If the gap is widening in this country - how much is a disparity are we willing to accept?  Whatever results from a ‘free’ market?  Are there limits to the inequality we are willing to accept?  What are they?

Is there a maximum level of inequality beyond the social unrest makes life unpleasant even for the wealthy?

Today we will talk about what I learned on my recent trip to South Africa, and we’ll put it in a moral context with philosopher Tom Clark, founder and director of the Center for Naturalism.

Media Minutes
